26 de octubre - El Alcalde de la ciudad de Nueva York, Michael Bloomberg, ha dado un giro importante en su campaña en busca de la reelección, al lograr tener en la Reina del Merengue una aliada en el acercamiento a la comunidad latina, Milly Quezada, quien admira las iniciativas en materia educativa y su apoyo por las artes, al igual que los esfuerzos que ha realizado en función de la reforma migratoria.
El interés de Milly por la política nace paralelo a sus inclinaciones musicales, que se manifiestan en las calles de la comunidad que la vio crecer: Washington Heights. Sus padres y cuatro hermanos emigraron a la ciudad de Nueva York a inicio de la década de los setenta. Quezada se destacó en sus estudios, graduándose con honores Magna Cum Laude, de la facultad de Comunicación, del City College de Nueva York. Ha demostrado que los temas sociales le apasionan tanto, que el Presidente de República Dominicana, Dr. Leonel Fernández, la distinguió con el cargo de Embajadora Cultural, con el propósito de promover el desarrollo del arte y la educación, especialmente aquel que represente a la cultura Dominicana.
Como neoyorquina, Quezada ha sido testigo de el cambio dramático que se dio en materia educativa bajo el liderazgo del alcalde Bloomberg. "Como artista, lamultiganadora del premio Grammy valoro su compromiso con la promoción y apoyo a las artes y la cultura en nuestras escuelas y comunidades. Estoy feliz de poder brindarle todo mi apoyo al Alcalde, especialmente durante los últimos días de su campaña" acotó la artista, quien lo acompañará esta noche en el evento "Get Out the Vote: Women for Bloomberg Rally", en donde atraerá el voto de la mujer latina.
Por su parte, el Alcalde de la Ciudad de Nueva York, asegura que es un honor contar con el apoyo de una personalidad tan respetada y querida dentro de la comunidad latina, asegurando que esto "refleja el sentir de la diversidad de la campaña". Confirmed to present awards are current Latin GRAMMY nominees Enrique Bunbury, Luis Enrique, Germán Montero, Omara Portuondo and Reik, as well as Kany García, Enrique Iglesias, Victor Manuelle, Milly Quezada, and Johnny Ventura.
