I have a plan of what I want to do with my life. I feel I have several talents to offer… and I think that I am on the right path. When I was younger I loved dancing, singing, writing lyrics, talking, and acting like I was a news reporter. I realized that whatever I was up to whether it was working a dead-end job or on my spare time… these things were always on my mind. Little by little I found that these feelings were becoming greater as the years went by as I was growing and changing… I was in college thinking that I wanted to major in Psychology… but I knew deep down inside that it wasn’t something that would fulfill me. So I withdrew from college to “find myself” and it seems that it was a good Idea. I know now, that what I found to be just a past time was something that I wanted to be devoted too. Back to the plan… I originally wanted to be an artist/celebrity/dancer/singer something in the entertainment industry… I like the flashing lights, the audience, the stage, cameras and the excitement… so I thought… how do I get my foot in the door. Well I began auditioning for talent competitions, for example Objetivo Fama, American Idol and La Academia… this exposure gave me the boost that I needed to continue my path into the entertainment industry… I wasn’t successful in any of these competitions, but that what doesn’t break you makes you stronger. In two of these I was simply a semi-finalist and in one of these I was just an attendee. Nonetheless, I gave myself the chance… me, myself and I. Following these auditions I figured I wanted to gain knowledge in the industry -that way I have the wits and the talent… double the power. So one day a simple phone call placed everything into perspective. Why? How? You ask… I was on the phone with a good friend of mine… and in the middle of the conversation he mentioned that one of his friends was down from a big city interviewing for a leading Spanish broadcasting communication company. I said… What?! I told him… I want to do that… I don’t want someone else to take my opportunity… so I jumped on the ball and quickly called and got an interview that very same day. Currently I am employed through Univision and am a DJ on saturdays for KRDA 107.5 FM. So far the PLAN is working… I got my foot in the door… what follows… Endless opportunities! So with my job which is part-time and the fact that I want to succeed in this industry, I am preparing myself educationally and am attending college to pursue my degree in Mass Communications/Journalism. The exposure on air will help me prepare for audience listeners and will give me an idea of the FORMATS, type of show I will be comfortable with, and genres. This will also help me develop my speech skills and put to test my Spanish vocabulary. Little by little I hope to gain more knowledge and experience in school and in my current profession so that I can be ready when I make my crossover into Television. Once in Television I hope to start with a few TV commercials and slowly move into TV segments, perhaps News briefs and Traffic Reports. Once having done this I would first like to be a TV host, like Ryan Sycrest or Yuri on Objetivo Fama. Surely there after, I plan to be a co-host on shows such as Arriba Valle Central, Despierta America, Escandalo TV, or a show like Reggis and Kelly. If this is achieved and I succeed, then I will shoot to be my own TV Talk Show HOST. I plan to call it... “All up in it” (bringing you a mix of Day to Day life and Entertainment). Maybe, maybe, if time and energy permits I would love to be a News Reporter/Anchor but this is too serious for me… so maybe when I’m 50-60 or something. This would be my plan. Certainly in-between all this, I will be stressing and failing forward, I will make mistakes, but I will also balance my life with friends and family. Having them share in my joy and experiences. To sooth or alleviate some of my stress I will be hitting the gym, taking up a dance class or traveling. Just so that the overall experience is pleasurable to myself and those I surround myself with. When all is said and done… I intend to give back, I believe in giving back to the community. Currently I dedicate time to my local High School in Fresno, and an elementary in Reedley. I like motivating these kids and inspiring them, teaching them the importance of learning, respect and communication through leadership training. I find much joy to see these kids thinking about there life at such a young age… And if life gives me the opportunity, I would like to go back to local schools and be a motivational speaker to inspire and motivate youth to be the best they can be in hopes that they can stay away from drugs, gangs, violence and teenage pregnancy. This would be an ultimate lifetime goal.
